Straight Chair Knoll

The Straight Chair was born from George Nakashima’s incredible craftsmanship and from his extraordinary knowledge of wood. The renowned Japanese artist designed the chair for Knoll in the 1940s. The shapes are inspired by the Windsor chair and are characterised by an elegant minimalism that was particularly appreciated by Hans and Florence Knoll.

Thanks to Nakashima’s daughter and to the George Nakashima Studios, the chair was reintroduced into the Knoll catalogue in 2008 and it is produced according to the original design.

Made in American walnut wood with hickory spindles, the Straight Chair has an enveloping backrest whose width increases towards the upper part. The chair’s height is 76,2 centimetres and the seat’s height is 44 centimetres.
