Viscontea Flos

Designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed the Viscontea hanging lamp for Flos.

The processing of cocoon, a plastic polymer in the form of microfilaments that is sprayed on the metal structure to form a real silk cocoon, giving life to soft and enveloping shapes, is unique to this classic design. In addition to enhancing the shapes in all of their continuity, this particular material is elastic, tough, and simple to maintain.

The interplay between the continuity of the structural parts made of steel and the cocoon-like light diffuser that covers them gives the space a great deal of energy and is evidence of a superb command of technical means mixed with refined competence in the execution of artistic practice.
