The German pavilion created for the Universal Exposition of Barcelona that took place in 1929 was definitely one of the projects that made Ludwig Mies van der Rohe one of history’s most celebrated architects and designers. The renowned chairs Mies designed for the pavilion were conceived to welcome the King and the Queen of Spain. Barcelona Couch, which is today part of the Knoll production, was designed by Mies in 1930 in the same style as the celebrated chair and it expresses all the command of line and materials, all the glory of one of the greatest masters of modern design.

Upholstered in leather, Barcelona Couch includes 72 panels hand-welted and hand-tufted. The padding is in highest quality foam and dacron, the platform in AfricanSapele wood, the tubular legs in stainless steel.
