650 Aeo Cassina

Paolo Deganello, in collaboration with the radical architecture group Archizoom, created the 650 AEO armchair for the Cassina line in 1973.

This chair, with its daring and distinctive design and experimental approach to materials of use, represents the apogee of Cassina's adaptability.

At first, the customer was given complete leeway and authority over the assembly process for the armchair, which was one of the chair's original design goals.

The backrest appears to be completely devoid of a rigid support surface. The upholstery, which can be composed of fabric or leather, serves as a backrest and drapes gently over the cushioned seat frame. The rectangular support surface of the 650 AEO seat base is a perfect fit for the painted steel tube that serves as the armchair's supporting framework.
