The Astrum table for Maxalto, designed by Piero Lissoni, is the result of a linear, essential design that respects the principles of both simplicity and solidity.
The design of the Astrum table is absolutely distinct due to the structure of its trestle base. From an ergonomic standpoint, this design solution includes a single painted die-cast aluminum upright to which two or three support pieces are attached, depending on the curvature of the table top.
In the variant with a rectangular top, the supporting elements each consist of two separate pieces that are connected by a transverse member.
The three structural elements for the version with a circular top are connected by a steel ring.
Known as trestles, these uprights are constructed with a triangle cross section, an angle, and a height above ground to properly carry the entire load. The top is available with a marble finish or a wood finish, and in the circular version, it has a Lazy Susan tray for easy access to food and drinks.
