The Pathos table by Antonio Citterio for Maxalto is an excellent example of how form and function can harmoniously coexist in modern furniture.
This classic piece of furniture combines elegance and vitality thanks to its foundational parts, which are arranged such that they form an X at the tabletop's extremities. An end piece of rectangular section brings the Pathos table into contact with the floor, allowing the vertically suspended lateral X's to provide the necessary solidity.
The top comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, including round, rectangular, and square with bevelled edges. Marble and medium-density wood fibre with a lacquer finish is both options for the top.
The Pathos table, while functional in any setting, nevertheless conveys a remarkable formal rigour through its design.
