Boynton Hall Table Cassina

In his work for Cassina, architect Frank Lloyd Wright created the Boynton Hall table.

The Boynton Hall table is characterized by its strict linear and voluminous geometry. The rectangular base stares down on the statue-like pedestals that surround the room.

The legs, which take the form of pillars, are ornamented with threads that define the profile and tapered to a square base that calls to mind the architectural component of a capital.

The use of solid cherry wood and the presence of the support surface in two lengths both contribute to the robustness of the shapes. In the course of the design process, Wright looked for blatant allusions to established customs, and he incorporated this further feature to lend the table a distinctively contemporary air without dismissing them.
