It is a perfect osmosis between the modern European ideal and the work of the Indian craftsman that the Kangaroo armchair, designed by the Swiss architect and designer Pierre Jeanneret for the Hall of the Chandigarh General Hospital and present in numerous private domestic spaces, combines the materials of typical Indian culture, giving life to essential shapes through the use of readily accessible materials like wood.

The linearity and simplicity of the piece are exemplified by the use of a distinctive wood from the Indian teak Burma heritage to create the "Z"-shaped feature for the side support parts and a caning made of woven Vienna straw.
