Olimpino Cassina

The Olimpino table, designed by Ico Parisi for Cassina in 1955, has become a classic piece of mid-century modern furniture because of its timeless beauty and innovative construction.

Glass and aluminium give this table a modern, industrial look. The glass top, which is rectangular in shape, sits atop the metal framework, which is both intricate and linear. The pair of "Y" shaped uprights forces the top internal structural parts to converge towards a single central point below the support surface, whereas the external elements diverge until they block the upper level. Brass is used to accentuate the joinery elements favoured by the designer, such as glazing beads and screws.

A "V" is formed by the metal legs and a double transverse element that flows away from the table's edge.

The utilization of solid wood, which contributes to the formation of a distinctive arrow-like shape at the terminal elements of the legs, points the flooring in the desired direction.
