Driade Goes to the Moon for its 50th Anniversary

During Milano Arch Week, held from 23 to 27 May in the city of Milan, the design furniture brand Driade celebrated 50 years of business.

It was an interesting week of exhibitions, meetings, workshops and much more to explore the future of cities with the leaders of contemporary architecture. Driade organised several different events to involve the public in its anniversary celebration.

At the Triennale Museum, Enrico Astori presented a review of the most significant moments of the brand's long history - events that brought Driade to become the archetype of what is now known as a "lifestyle" collection.

The event centred round the presentation of the brand new, exclusive collection Driade Moon Mission, its very first outdoor collection, conceived for the lunar surface.

This was an unprecedented challenge that emerged thanks to studies by the European Space Agency - which is making it possible for the collection to be produced by 3D printing on the moon, using regolith, an extraordinary material present on its surface.

Also present at the Triennale event were four design icons, on display in the Sala d'Onore: the armchairs Toy and Costes by Philippe Starck plus the tables Koishi by Naoto Fukasawa and Cuginetto by Enzo Mari.
