Cassina at "Le monde nouveau de Charlotte Perriand"
Cassina, the historical producer of the iconic furniture designed by the famous designer and architect Charlotte Perriand (1903-1999), is involved in the exhibition and the Fondation Louis Vuitton "Le monde nouveau de Charlotte Perriand", which will be open in Paris until 24 February 2020.
The exhibition is original because it includes reconstructions of her works and some pieces borrowed from the designer’s original archives. It tells her story, step by step.
Cassina enjoyed a long collaboration with Ms. Perriand and continues to work with members of her family. The company has committed to providing careful, rigorous philological reconstructions, in collaboration with Pernette Perriand Barsac, to honour and strengthen the designer’s legacy.
Furthermore, they have rebuilt certain pieces from the Maison du Jeune Homme (1935), the Proposition d'un Synthèse d'Art (1955) and a selection of other pieces designed by Ms. Perriand during her permanence in Asia.
In addition, Cassina has also lent the exhibition the famous futuristic Refuge Tonneau (1938), an authentic masterpiece of mobile architecture imagined with Pierre Jeanneret for the mountains, which is normally kept at the company’s headquarters.
"Le monde nouveau de Charlotte Perriand" is therefore not only an extraordinary occasion to admire and learn more about the visionary design masterpieces that have made history in modern times. It is also a possibility to discover a historical period that was rich in innovation.
