Zanotta has created a new collection that is more than a simple re-edition of products. Instead they want to pay tribute to the famous architect and designer, Carlo Mollino (1905-1973).
It features 8 tribute pieces, all identified with the initials CM, that revisit some of the his most famous furnishings: the storage unit Carlino CM (1938); the mirror Milo CM (1938); the armchair Ardea CM (1946); the table Reale CM (1949); the side table Arabesco CM (1949); the desk Cavour CM (1949); the armchair Gilda CM (1953) and finally, the chair Fenis CM (designed in 1959 for the main offices of the Turin Polytechnic University).
Carlino CM is a storage unit that stands on a single pointed leg and has one drawer.
The Milo CM mirror has a sensuous curved frame that recalls the famous Greek Venus de Milo statue for which it was named.
The Ardea CM armchair reinterprets the classic wing-back chair, and is designed to create a more private space.
The Reale CM table, on the other hand, has a complex architectural structure and an exquisite crystal top.
The Arabesco CM is a side table whose strong point is its balance between the complete lines of the structure and the empty spaces in the carved parts and transparent surfaces.
The Cavour CM desk reflects extremely sophisticated design through the strong contrast of structure’s natural and oblique lines and the bold geometric storage compartment, the particular drawer unit and the top part in crystal.
Gilda CM is a reclining armchair with 4 positions that reflect the designer’s eclectic style perfectly through a very complex structure that uses the armrest as a junction between the front and rear legs.
Lastly, the Fenis CM chair consists in a design version of the classic Valle D'Aosta style chair.
These truly interesting products will certainly render a fitting tribute to a brilliant creator who anticipated the most modern design trends.
