Cassina Wins Two Wallpaper* Design Awards 2022

The international magazine Wallpaper* always celebrates the best of design every year. The new February issue announces the winners of this year’s contest, and 2 pieces made by Cassina were selected.

Cassina was victorious firstly in the category “Best transparent tech” with the splendid Radio in Cristallo by Franco Albini, and secondly in the category “Best reissues” with the desk “Petit bureau en forme libre” by Charlotte Perriand, reissued in a pro grazie version in collaboration with the designer’s daughter.

Radio in Cristallo by Franco Albini was also conceived as prototype-model for the brand in the year 1938. The designer decided to take a wedding gift apart and then redesign the item between two load-bearing sheets of tempered glass. The resulting radio looks extremely lightweight, and its essential components remain visible and become furnishing elements. Today the pro version of the radio also has speakers, radio functions, and a hi-tech Bluetooth system.
