Atelier Hermann Rosa and the B&B Italia Image
The artist Hermann Rosa was born in Pirna in 1911, the son of a stonemason. He built his own studio on sheer expertise at number 89 Osterwaldstrasse in Munich.
In 1960, this extraordinary German sculptor bought a small piece of land just a stone’s throw from green city centre, and over the next eight years he designed and built his own atelier, a reflection of himself. Everything in this magnificent building speaks of the ascetic and radical artist who loved Cézanne, Giacometti and Le Corbusier. It’s no surprise that the studio became a national monument in 1988.
This atelier is the backdrop for B&B Italia chairs, immortalized by photographer Tommaso Sartori. Bathed in splendid sunlight that enters two immense glass walls from dawn to dusk, the studio and the garden join to form a place of unique serenity and unforgettable style, where we can contemplate the artist and the brand.
