Archiproducts Winter 2024: Sustainability Award for MDF Italia

The 2024 edition of the Archiproducts Design Awards introduces a significant innovation. The Sustainability Award was created to recognize projects that stand out for the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials, low-emission production techniques and a reduced environmental impact throughout the entire product life cycle. Hundreds of entries were received from around the world, and each candidate was carefully evaluated by an international jury of eco-design and sustainability experts.

Among the winners, we find Array, an innovative sofa system designed by Snøhetta for MDF Italia, which redefines the concept of modular furniture with particular attention to the environment.

Array is designed in compact modules to offer flexibility and customization while facilitating bespoke configurations, transport and recycling. The structure in recycled polypropylene has a hollow core that helps reduce the use of materials. The recycled polyurethane seat and backrest ensure comfort, while the completely removable upholstery is available in recycled polyester.

Four coffee tables in oak and canaletto walnut veneer complete this splendid collection. It’s an excellent example of design that combines aesthetics, functionality and respect for the environment.
