Origata by Porro Wins Archiproducts Design Awards
The Origata console, designed by Nao Tamura for Porro, has received the coveted Archiproducts Design Awards, an award that celebrates global design excellence while focusing on the collaboration between designers and brands in the name of creativity, innovation and sustainability.
The monolithic look of Origata is inspired by the manufacture of traditional Japanese kimonos, where rectangular fabric is cut along straight lines and assembled without waste. This principle guides the creation of the furniture, which is cut from a sheet of aluminium foil and joined by screws, to get the most out of the material.
This modern object sports minimalist geometry and brutalist architecture softened by a soft pillow. Origata is a three-dimensional sculpture and a visual game of symmetry, balance and the expressive power of colour.
This piece represents a perfect balance between essential gestures and aesthetic minimalism. It reflects the values shared between the designer and Porro: a synthesis of cultural roots, international vision, respect for raw materials and orientation towards the future. The whole art of simplification is conveyed through this project, without sacrificing expressive depth.
