Seki-Han Suspension, the Flos Re-edition of an Icon of Light and Materiality
The Seki-Han Suspension lamp by Flos, designed by Tobia Scarpa, makes its return with a new interpretation that enhances an original project dating back to 1963. This pendant lamp emits both direct and indirect light, with symmetrical as well as asymmetrical distribution, suited to a range of lighting applications.

Visionary for its time, the structure comprises two horizontal ash elements connected by chrome-plated metal joints. The wooden surfaces rotate around a central linear light source, allowing the light output to be dynamically modulated. The system integrates a bespoke dimmable linear LED, while also accommodating standard T8 LED tubes, further enhancing its versatility.

The product’s architecture draws on naval construction techniques, evident in the complex assembly of the wooden elements. This mechanism allows a slender line of light to filter through, creating a carefully calibrated and evocative visual effect. The re-edition also introduces a pendant version with a more compact body, while preserving its formal identity. The result is a balance between lightness and material presence.
