The Icon of the Month: The Cinqueterre Kitchen by Schiffini
The Icon of the Month is the Cinqueterre Kitchen by Schiffini, designed by master designer Vico Magistretti, who in 1999 introduced a new concept of the kitchen environment, combining technological research, rigour and design culture.

Presented in 1999, it is considered a pioneering project for the use of aluminium in the industrial production of kitchens: a material chosen for its technical qualities and its ability to evolve over time.

Cinqueterre stands out for its industrial-inspired aesthetic, softened by a strong focus on proportions and construction details. The precision of the workmanship and attention to finishes define a design that goes beyond the standardisation typically associated with professional kitchens.

Its most recognisable feature is the door with a ribbed surface, made up of overlapping slats that create a dynamic visual rhythm and enhance the interplay of light. The distinctive Cinqueterre tubular handle follows this movement, becoming an integral part of the design.
The ageing of aluminium also takes on a design role: the material changes over the years, acquiring new shades while retaining its character.

After many years, Cinqueterre remains an icon, an example of technical research and design culture, conceived to accompany the home over time.
