The Iconic Spiegel Lamp by Verpan
Spiegel is famous because it is present throughout the indoor installation that Verner Panton did for the publishing house of Der Spiegel in Hamburg in 1969.
The Spiegel lamp is a cutting-edge piece for a modern or contemporary home. The lamp’s typical essential design displays personality. It can be mounted ceiling- or wall-mounted alone or as a part of a system, which allows the user to create an extraordinary expression with a single piece or a dramatic large scale installation, depending on how one feels, personal taste, and the characteristics of the space.
This large square lamp has a circular cavity in the centre where the bulb is housed. The bulb is then hidden under a semi-spherical lampshade that breaks the light and softens it, totally eliminating glare. What Panton created with Spiegel was, and still is, an architectural work of art: a sculpture that also functions as a lamp to form a beautiful source of soft ambient light.
Spiegel comes in the beautiful finish brushed aluminium.
