Gaulino Collection by Bd Barcelona: the Triumph of Wood Design

Way back in 1987, Oscar Tusquets, the Catalan architect and co-founder of BD Barcelona, created Gaulino, an iconic wooden chair sporting the organic forms used by Gaudì and the curved lines of furniture designed by Carlo Mollino (which explains the name of the chair).

Today, the Gaulino collection has been expanded and enhanced with tables, chairs and stools in wood, all made with the same forms as the legendary chair in solid wood and leather.

Gaulino was the predecessor and inspiration for the concept of a “chair-sculpture”, which runs fluidly through this collection created in FSC certified wood. The new collection includes Gaulino Easy, a lighter and lower version of the original chair; Gaulinetta, a thinner interpretation without armrests inspired by Enzo Mari’s Tonietta; and the lovely Gaulino stool.

Wood is the leitmotiv, in both lacquered or black stained ash. The natural grain emerges as organic lines and striping on the surface, and blends with the hand-sewn leather seats.
