Designed by French brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the 140 Cotone armchair for Cassina is a synthesis of the creators' research with colour and surface. The Cotone armchair is conceived on the basis of this unhindered and ever-evolving process of inquiry, which has always been aimed at the production of an enveloping and comprehensive experience.
The cotton flower, from which the chair's name is derived, is evoked by the chair's warm and enveloping lines, beckoning the user to sit back, relax, and take in the soothing sensations that this seat provides. The design of the seat is sophisticated as a result of the contrast between the upholstered seats, which have soft lines, and the supporting structure, which is formed by thin and rigorous lines. The supporting structure is made of extruded aluminium.
The aluminium frame and fabric upholstery give the seat a wide range of customization options, as well as a wide range of contexts in which it can be installed.
