New Edition of Tobi-Ishi by B&B Ital

B&B Italia is launching a new interpretation of the famous Tobi-Ishi table ten years after its introduction. This product became an icon almost immediately, thanks to the creativity of Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby.

Strong experimentation with form has always distinguished these designers’ work. They have a particular propensity for exploring materials and colours, which is very visible in the new Tobi-Ishi.

This edition of the table retains its sculptural nature defined by its three components, which were inspired by the “flying stones” that decorate ponds in Japanese gardens. The shapes of the bases and the tabletop overhang appear to be very different depending on the point of observation in an original interplay of optical perspective.

It’s the perfect combination of solidity and lightness. Strips of white Carrara and Green Alpi marble arranged with a highly sophisticated manual technique show an artistic combination of colours that reflects typical Italian craftsmanship.
