The Ray seating system, designed by Antonio Citterio, is an evergreen item in the B&B Italia catalogue that combines aesthetics and functionality through modular design. Its structure is made up of linear elements, a chaise longue piece and end pieces that offer infinite possibilities for configuration, including corner pieces and peninsula pieces.

The key to Ray’s success can be found in its linearity and simplicity, enhanced with high class tailored details such as the blanket stitch used to make removable covers, which come in many different colours. The distinctive feature of this system is the diecast U-shaped foot that, along with the seat cushion height, helps give Ray an extraordinarily elegant appearance. Ray was originally conceived for indoor use, but has recently made its debut (2017) in the outdoor collection with Ray Outdoor Fabric. This version stands out for its interlacing rope pattern in polypropylene fibre, which is resistant to UV rays and weather.
