Cassina and Philippe Starck: 30 Years of Innovative Furniture

Cassina and designer Philippe Starck are celebrating three decades of working together with new bedroom collections, such as the Somewhere El-S chairs, inspired by travel trunks, and the Volage Ex-S Night Wood bed, a wooden version of the famous Volage capitonné pattern bed.

Since their first meeting in 1994, Starck has interpreted the Cassina concept with an innovative and ironic approach, while anticipating the needs of modern living at the same time. His creations include the Lazy Working Sofa, a multifunctional island with integrated wiring, and the Volage and Privé collections, which are reinterpretations of capitonné upholstery pattern with a new button fastening technique.

The Somewhere El-S collection is distinguished by tailoring and craftsmanship details, with metallic elements and ivory stitching that recall the aesthetics of travel trunks. They used eco-sustainable materials and polyurethane padding with differentiated density covered in recycled PET. The structure can be completely disassembled to facilitate recycling at the end of its life.

The Volage Ex-S Night Wood bed features a wooden headboard available in mahogany, glossy ebony and matt sycamore, with functional accessories and integrated lighting. This bed is an elegant and even more practical evolution of the original design.
