413 Cab Cassina

The classic Cab 413 chair by designer Mario Bellini for the Cassina firm reflects, by its complex design, the tools through which man is able to express himself and through which it is possible to organize oneself to acquire consciousness and get in touch with oneself and the domestic landscape, as articulated by Bellini.

The leather upholstery in Cab 413 is the first of its kind to serve as the seat's structural framework. The designer, seeking a point of identification with the chair, sees in its framework an analogy to the human skeleton and, in the leather's composition, an analogy to the epidermis.

The chair is a style icon and a testament to the high quality of Cassina's craftsmanship, thanks to its combination of comfort and sophistication. Twenty-two layers of leather were die-cut and sewn together to create the only self-supporting component, the seat covering. Zippers are used to hold everything together.
