Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola created the coffee table for the Super Beam Sofa System for Cassina.
The coffee table is a perfect example of the designer's acute awareness of and appreciation for the aesthetic conventions of modern life. It is open to and builds off of experimentation and new ideas without ignoring the history that has inexorably shaped the evolution of design. Assumptions like this inform Patricia Urquiola and Cassina's vision for the future.
There are two distinct sizes of tables in this set, each with a base that can accommodate either a circular or a rectangular tabletop at one of four possible heights. The tops, which are supported by extruded aluminium beams, are crafted from a variety of materials, including oak, Canaletto walnut, and cement stone, each of which contributes uniquely to the overall aesthetic of the work.
