New Origata Bench by Porro
The Origata bench by Porro is built in metal and pieced like a kimono. It’s monolithic but has a light look, in all its splendour.
Designed by Nao Tamura, the bench seems be a combination of the past and present. Ancient forms and modernity blend with the graphic and contemporary line as seen in Japanese kimonos, traditional clothing made of flat rectangular fabric cut and sewn in straight lines to avoid producing waste.
Using this playful concept, the bench is made from aluminium sheet that is cut and assembled with screws, optimizing the use of the material and shaping it as the designer has decided.
It’s geometric and essential, a trendy object with an echo of brutalist architecture softened by a pillow. Origata is a three-dimensional sculpture and a visual game of symmetries and balances based on the highly expressive power of colour.
The Origata bench will premiere during the Fuorisalone 2024 in Milan.
