Nid & Quilt: Porro's New Chairs for 2024
Porro has several new products in its 2024 catalogue, including the Nid armchair and the Quilt bench. Both are essential, functional, and versatile in style.
Nid was designed by Christophe Pillet, who has also created famous projects like the Nouvelle Vague chaise longue, the Jade armchair and the Shahnan coffee table. This chair traces a conceptual link between tradition and modernity in design, through references, quotes and new approaches.
Its seat, made with a softly padded, shaped ash wood shell, has an abstract shape that can be combined with various base options: four sturdy die-cast aluminium legs, ideal for contract interiors; or four warm wooden legs, which are more suitable for domestic interiors.
Quilt was designed by Werner Aisslinger, the German designer who has been working with Porro since the 1990s. This metal bench is upholstered in fabric, and designed to provide comfort in public places like offices, waiting rooms and cultural environments. Hidden under the quilted upholstery, its metal structure creates soft, inviting landscapes that can be customized with different colours.
