Cocoon Gatto Flos

For Flos, Achille Castiglioni designed the Gatto table lamp.

Cocoon, a plastic polymer processed in the form of microfilaments, is sprayed over the metal structure to create a real silk cocoon, giving life to soft, enveloping shapes. In addition to enhancing the shapes in all of their continuity, this particular material is elastic, tough, and straightforward to clean.

The interplay between the continuity of the structural parts made of steel and the cocoon-like light diffuser that covers them gives the space a great deal of energy and is evidence of a superb command of technical means mixed with refined competence in the execution of stylistic practice. Alongside the power cable is where one will find the dimmer switch, which also serves as the light intensity regulator.
