Patricia Urquiola, a Spanish designer, created the 553 Bowy Sofa for Cassina.

The sofa's irreverent design places a strong emphasis on its whimsical quality, and in order to achieve a balance between comfort and functionality, it makes use of a contrast between circular and rectangular proportions. Designing the furnishing item with an approach linked to the graphic sign on which the circular armrest trespasses from the seat and joins the backrest gives form to the product in the room.
