The 556 Sengu Sofa for the Cassina collection is a creation by the Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola.
The design of the sofa, which is entirely based on open shapes, is conceived to emphasise the importance of the invisible connection and of the interaction between human beings and spaces. Thanks to a philosophy which pays particular attention to this kind of interaction, this sofa becomes a tribute to Japanese sanctuaries. The natural openness to dialogue and conversation, which characterises the concept of the sofa, is the key of well-being, while comfort is ensured by an accurate selection of materials.
The padding of the cushions is made of entirely recycled fibre. The use of an eco-friendly material is a sign of a high attention to quality, a particularly important aspect of the production by Cassina LAB.
The supporting structure of the sofa consists of a steel frame combined with two solid wood elements.
